The best winter base layer. Period
Without a doubt this is the best winter base layer I have ever had. It is warm and comfortable and keeps my neck warm and the wind off of chest. I highly recommend this propuct

Looks Good, Warm, a Bit Short
Looks great, keeps warm, but a bit short. 5’10” size medium, but it rides up a bit in the back while riding. I wear a longer undershirt to remedy the situation.

Second generation not as good as first one
Too bad rapha ... plus mince , sans capuchon mais avec une épaisseur coupe vent sur le devant ... mais la qualité semble avoir diminuée

A base layer for freezing or below!
If you ride at freezing or below… buy this now. Extremely comfortable and functional base layer. Easily the heaviest base layer I’ve come across, and that is a positive. You can ride at freezing or below with just this base layer and a jacket or winter jersey. I hate having to wear a ton of layers just to go for a ride, so this base layer is honestly invaluable to me. The wind block panel at the front certainly is a nice touch as well. Size medium fits well at 175lbs 5’11”.

Excellent winter layer
Pair with a long sleeve jersey or jacket and it’s perfect for early morning Northern California rides between 35-45*F.

Light + warm
Light but warm, one of my favourite winter items. Not cheap, but worth it.

Great upgraded base layer, albeit a bit pricey
This is certainly a substantial upgrade to the regular merino base layer. I use it for running (not cycling) and it achieved exactly what I was hoping for: the elimination of both a second layer for wind proofing and a buff or scarf. The only small gripe I have is that the proofing material doesn't cover the entire front, but I understand this is a cycling-related design choice. The sizing and fit is right and it feels great on the skin, as always with merino.

Nearly perfect winter base layer!
Excellent on many levels, the sort of item that makes me loyal to Rapha: functional (I only need one base layer in winter!!), fits and feels great, and I dropped my separate snood from my winter kit. Only reason I'm not giving five starts is I tend to sweat a lot and the windblock part tends to get very wet, and doesn't dry out as fast as the rest of it. Super-fussy, I know. But in a perfect world I'd like to see the same item without the extra fabric.

Great piece of kit
I bought this towards the end of winter, so it will not be until next year that I get full use of this, but this is a lovely item full of great little details. Most importantly it is warm, but the neck that can be pulled up over your face and the thumb holes in the sleeves are really useful, as is the wind-proof layer over the chest.

Great!
This is a fantastic piece of gear.
Feels nice on the skin, keeps your upper body and neck warm and can even cover your mouth and nose if you pull it further up. Because it is very breathable, it has a great temperature range in which you can use it. I tend to wear it between 0 and 12 degrees Celsius and only change the layering above it. Doesn't need washing after every ride due its merino fabric. I use size Medium and it fits well (182cm/72kg).

Excellent Cold Weather Piece
I have several Rapha Pro Team thermal base layers which I love so I decided to add this Deep Winter Windblock piece to my kit. I wear a size L in everything when it comes to Rapha tops and this piece is no different. This is a really well made, quality item with nice details like the extended sleeve with thumb holes. I own other high end baselayers from Assos, DeMarchi, etc., but Rapha consistently outshines the competition.

Certainly Blocks the Wind!
Working well as part of the cold New York/New England winter layer set up - Temperature range used in so far is 28-35 degrees F. The windblock certainly works as does the roll-neck - no need for a separate neck gaiter. Sizing is spot on for Rapha Classic sizing. The garment certainly facilitates longer winter rides so far. I was slightly wary that all the features would work well together - but they really do.

Unique base layer
It's cold in NE.. I had been looking for a substantial base layer to combat the wind and chill in winter. The Deep winter base layer has fit the bill. I am an xs or xxs womens in Rapha but this piece is not offered in a womens specific. I ordered the smallest size available and while I it would be a little loose for a jersey it's fine for a base layer. I really like the high neck and wind block front.

Fantastic
Probably the nicest Rapha item I have. Really like this. Super comfy, really warm and nice fit. Really like the snood. Normally I wear a buff but snood stops any cold air getting in through gaps. I live in Scotland and weather has been very cold and wet recently. This has been a huge help in avoiding endless turbo sessions! I have even been wearing as a casual wear item under gilet out and about.

Wardrobe staple, great product!
Great product. I’ve worn it with just a jersey overlay in low degrees and been plenty warm. Snood also makes a massive difference and was my reason for upgrading. Only critique is I find the thumb loops on the sleeves can rub over long distances with gloves on top but you can just unloop them when this happens. Would highly recommend, body fit is true to size and can be worn with anything.

Game Changer
Seriously good piece of kit. I've been wearing this with the core winter jacket on top of it and thats all I've needed for riding this winter in NYC. Yesterday was my coldest ride at ~25F and my chest and upper body wasn't cold at all. The wind blocker on the chest is a total game changer. It's expensive, but can't imagine riding without it. Highly recommend.

Winter Weather Essential
This is a great piece for staying warm in Chicago winter when the wi d kicks up and the temps dip below freezing. The turtleneck is a great idea but don’t count on it to stay up over your mouth, it’s too loose and doesn’t stay up, it does help to keep your neck nice and warm. Once Rapha figures out the turtleneck fit this would make it a 5 star review.

Good but...
Good idea - good execution from the neck down. The neck is designed to be flexible and provide face and/or head coverage. This feature does nothing well - when you don't want/need face coverage, the neck does not act as an effective turtle neck. When you stretch it over your face or head - it feels and is awkward.

Excellent for the frigid days on the bike
Best Base Layer I've ever had! I don't wear much rapha kit but I swear by their base layers and I've tried 6 or 7 different brands. This one is just another step up in creating a base layer that is breathable yet super warm. I'm one of those people that runs cold, so I'll probably keep this one on until March.

Cool Morning Gear
If you ride in the cool mornings and can’t decide what to wear under your jacket. This is it. Like the neck design, and works as a temp Covid mask at traffic lights. The wind proof front makes a big difference. Waiting to see what a really cold winter will be like, definitely my warmest under layer to date

The Last Base Layer You Will Ever Need
Purchased this a few weeks ago and it is the bomb.
For wind protection and warmth, this is what you need. I have worn this with nothing but a Rapha merino base layer underneath and I was absolutely
toasty at 0c. This is a must have in your deep winter arsenal of winter cycling apparel.

Super warm base layer
Super warm, sometimes too warm that I head up sweating. This wouldn’t be an issue if you don’t layer up too much and trust the product :-)
I like the fact the sleeves have thumb holes so covers your palm nicely and your gloves can go over the sleeve to stop any cold air getting in.

Awesome
Simply this is the best winter base layer I’ve ever owned. £140 price tag may put you off, but I would argue worth every penny. The long sleeves, thumb holes, the high neck providing an integral snood, to the panelled wind stopper front. Sometimes this winter I’ve been too warm!!
