Gloves & Mitts

A range of cycling gloves and mitts for all conditions, from breathable mitts in summer to waterproof gloves for winter.

How should I wash Rapha cycling gloves?

To preserve the grip and technical fabrics, we recommend hand washing your gloves or using a gentle machine wash at 30°C in a mesh laundry bag. Avoid using fabric softeners, as these can degrade the silicone grippers on the palms and affect the breathability of the materials. After washing, reshape the gloves and allow them to air dry naturally away from direct heat. If your gloves feature leather palms, such as our Classic range, apply a small amount of leather conditioner occasionally to keep the material supple and prevent cracking.

How do I choose the right size for cycling gloves?

To find your ideal fit, measure the circumference of your hand around the widest part of your palm, excluding the thumb. Our gloves are designed to fit snugly to ensure maximum control and prevent the fabric from bunching, which can cause blisters. A well-fitted glove should feel like a second skin without restricting circulation. If you prefer a slightly roomier feel for winter layering, you might consider sizing up, but for performance racing mitts, a close fit is essential for a secure connection to the handlebars.

What is the difference between mitts and full-finger gloves?

Mitts, or fingerless gloves, are primarily designed for summer riding and high-intensity efforts. They provide essential palm padding and grip while allowing maximum breathability and dexterity for shifting and braking. Full-finger gloves are better suited for cooler conditions or off-road riding, providing extra protection against the wind and trail debris. Our full-finger range includes everything from lightweight, breathable liners to fully insulated, waterproof winter gloves, ensuring your hands stay warm and functional regardless of the external temperature.

How much padding do I need in my cycling gloves?

The amount of padding required depends on your riding style and personal preference. Our Pro Team mitts feature minimal, high-density padding to maintain a direct feel of the road, favoured by racers. For long-distance endurance rides, our Brevet or Classic gloves offer more substantial gel inserts to dampen vibrations and reduce pressure on the ulnar nerve. Choosing the right level of padding can help prevent hand numbness and fatigue, ensuring you remain comfortable for several hours in the saddle.

Are Rapha winter gloves touchscreen compatible?

Many of our full-finger gloves, including the Deep Winter and Brevet models, feature conductive fingertips on the thumb and index finger. This allows you to operate your smartphone or GPS head unit without exposing your hands to the cold air. This technical feature is designed to be durable and responsive, ensuring you can navigate, take photos, or change your music on the move. Maintaining hand warmth is crucial for safety, as cold fingers can lead to slower braking reactions during winter descents.
