Women's Cycling Jackets & Gilets

Outer layers built for comfort and functionality on and off the bike.

What is a packable jacket and when should I use one?

A packable jacket, such as the Women’s Core Rain Jacket or the Explore Lightweight Jacket, is designed to be incredibly light and thin so it can be folded down into a jersey pocket. These are essential for rides with unpredictable weather or for protection on long mountain descents. They offer a vital windproof barrier that can be deployed in seconds and stowed away just as easily when the sun comes out.

How do I maintain the water-resistance of my jacket?

Most of our water-resistant jackets feature a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating. Over time, dirt and oils can mask this treatment, causing the fabric to look damp (known as wetting out). You can revive the DWR by washing your jacket with a technical detergent and applying a small amount of heat, such as a low-temperature tumble dry for 20 minutes. This reactivates the coating, ensuring water continues to bead off the surface rather than soaking in.

Are the pockets on Rapha jackets waterproof?

While our waterproof jackets use water-resistant zippers, we always recommend placing electronic devices or paper maps in a waterproof essentials case before putting them in your pockets. The humidity from your own body heat can sometimes create moisture inside the jacket during high-intensity efforts. Many of our jackets feature a dedicated essentials pocket with a secure zip specifically positioned for easy access even when wearing winter gloves.

Can I wear Rapha jackets for running or other activities?

While our jackets are designed specifically for the posture of a cyclist — with longer sleeves and a shorter front — many of our pieces are highly versatile. The Explore and City jackets, in particular, feature a more regular fit and hoods that make them excellent for hiking or running. Because the fabrics are highly breathable and windproof, they perform exceptionally well in any high-output outdoor activity where weight and weather protection are key.
