What is a chain-stitched logo and why is it used?
The chain-stitched logo found on our sweatshirts and t-shirts is a deliberate nod to the Golden Age of cycling. Before modern printing techniques, team names were meticulously embroidered onto wool jerseys using this textured stitch. By incorporating this heritage detail into our Men’s Lifestyle range, we bring a piece of cycling history to modern casual wear. It’s a tactile, premium finish that distinguishes Rapha lifestyle pieces from standard screen-printed high-street apparel.
Is the lifestyle range designed to be worn on the bike?
The lifestyle collection is primarily designed for "off-bike" activities — recovery days, travel, or socialising. However, many pieces are versatile enough for light city riding or a gentle commute. While they lack the aggressive "on-bike" cut of our Pro Team or Classic ranges, they still offer excellent moisture management and comfort. If you are looking for garments specifically for commuting that still look casual, we recommend exploring our City Riding collection for features like reflective detailing and gusseted seats.
What makes Rapha lifestyle clothing different from standard high-street apparel?
While our lifestyle pieces look like classic off-bike staples, they are built with the same technical DNA as our racing kit. We utilise high-performance materials like organic cotton, Merino wool, and recycled synthetics that offer superior breathability and durability compared to standard casual wear. Every piece is designed with a cyclist’s lifestyle in mind, featuring tailored fits that allow for easy movement and fabrics that maintain their shape and feel even after frequent travel and washing.
How does Merino wool benefit me when I'm not riding?
Merino wool is naturally antimicrobial, so our Merino lifestyle pieces (like polos and sweaters) resist odours, making them perfect for multi-day trips or long flights. It acts as a natural thermostat, keeping you warm in cold environments (like an air-conditioned airport) and cool when you’re on the move. This versatility ensures you stay comfortable throughout the day without the clammy feel of standard cotton or synthetic shirts.
Does the Free Repair Service apply to t-shirts and hoodies?
Our signature repair service is primarily focused on our technical riding kit to help get cyclists back on the road after a crash. Due to the nature of the materials, simple cotton t-shirts and hoodies are generally not eligible for the professional repair service. However, because we use high-quality organic cotton and reinforced stitching, these pieces are designed to be staples of your wardrobe for years. We always encourage our customers to follow the care instructions — washing at 30°C and air-drying — to ensure maximum longevity.
